Chic legend Niles Rodgers tweets that he’s cancer free
Niles Rodgers, the music legend behind Chic and bass player on the smash hit song “Get Lucky,” has another happy tune to sing.
On Twitter, he has revealed that he “all clear” after years of battling prostate cancer.
The 60-year-old artist was diagnosed with the disease in 2010. But according to tweets published on his account July 29th, a London check-up provided Rodgers with good news.
According to SPIN magazine, Rodgers has kept a blog on his treatment called “Walking on Planet C.”
“In an instant, everything in my happy-music universe imploded. It was like Jaws was savagely eating me from the inside out. My biopsy showed that I had to make some important decisions… fast,” he wrote in his first post on the site.
Working with Daft Punk on “Get Lucky,” which has become a chart-topping hit, reportedly lifted his spirits and he recently told SPIN, “I don’t think I’ve ever had a more exciting time in my life.”
