Chanel Names Lupita Nyong’o as its Latest Ambassador
Lupita Nyong’o has officially been named Chanel‘s latest ambassador. Attending the most recent Spring/Summer 2025 during Paris Fashion Week, the Oscar-winning actress, producer and New York Times Bestselling author from Kenya has always been a long-time friend of the house. In the past, she has worn numerous of the house’s creations and even attended the past FW24 Haute Couture show and wore a Chanel Haute Couture gown to the Academy Museum Annual Gala in Los Angeles this past December.
The actress hit the ground running, attending her first regular season Chanel show soon after she was announced as the new ambassador. Nyong’o made her feature debut in Steve McQueen’s Oscar-winning film 12 Years a Slave. She won an Oscar, SAG Award, Critics’ Choice Award, Independent Spirit Award and the NAACP Image Award for her role. Earlier this fall, Nyong’o launched her own podcast Mind Your Own which centers around non-fiction cultural storytelling from the African diaspora. She is slated to return to the theater in 2025, playing Viola in Shakespear in the Park’s summer production of Twelfth Night starring alongside Peter Dinklage, Sandra Oh and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
Her accolades continue to be immensely discussed, most recently starring in A Quiet Place franchise spinoff A Quiet Place: Day One. She is also known for playing Nakia in Marvel’s Black Panther franchise. She also narrated her debut children’s book Sulwe in 2020 for Netflix’s Bookmarks: Celebrating Black Voices, earning her an Emmy Award.
