Lloyd M. Yates serves as President and Chief Executive Officer at NiSource Inc., one of the largest, fully regulated utility companies in the United States. NiSource provides natural gas and electric energy to nearly four million customers across six states.
Prior to joining NiSource in 2022, Yates served as Executive Vice President, Customer and Delivery Operations, and President, Carolinas Region for Duke Energy.
In that role, Yates was responsible for aligning customer-focused products and services to deliver a personalized end-to-end experience. He also oversaw the strategic direction and financial performance of regulated utilities in North Carolina and South Carolina.
Yates previously served as President and CEO for Progress Energy Carolinas. He formerly served on the board of directors for Sonoco Products Company and American Water Works, Inc.
Yates earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and an MBA from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.
