Leslie T. Thornton served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, and Merger Transition Counsel for WGL Holdings, Inc.
In this role, Thornton provided legal and strategic counsel on a broad range of issues including critical infrastructure cybersecurity and data protection, litigation, employment and labor matters.
In the Clinton administration, she served in various senior roles including Chief of Staff to the U.S. Secretary of Education and Deputy Advisor for the 1996 Presidential Debates.
Thornton is a Board Leadership Fellow for the National Association of Corporate Directors.
Thornton serves on the Board of Trustees for the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law, and the Advisory Board of the Association of Corporate Counsel Leadership Academy.
Thornton holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and a L.L.M. in National Security Law.
