Mae C. Jemison, MD is President & Chief Executive Officer of the The Jemison Group, Inc., a technology consulting firm integrating critical socio-cultural issues into the design of engineering projects.
Jemison, the first woman of color to go into space, served as a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) astronaut for six years and was a member of the Space Shuttle Endeavor Flight since September 1992.
Jemison served as Bayer Corporation’s national advocate for the Making Science Make Sense initiative. She also founded the Dorothy Jemison Foundation for Excellence which designs and implements STEM education experiences.
Jemison is also a member of the National Academy of Medicine and the National Women’s Hall of Fame.
Jemison holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts degree in African and Afro-American Studies at Stanford University and a MD from Cornell University.
