Lorraine McGowen is a market leading bankruptcy and restructuring attorney, a member of Orrick’s Management Committee and a long-time leader of Orrick’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Initiatives.
McGowen has held other leadership positions in the firm, including serving on the firm’s Board of Directors. She is a former Vice President and Board Member of the New York City Bar Association and co-chairs its Digital Technologies Task Force.
McGowen’s practice focuses on consensual and non-consensual (in-court) insolvency matters, sovereign and municipal debt restructurings, and creditors’ rights enforcement actions.
McGowen serves on the Boards of Directors for the Institute for Inclusion in the Legal Profession and the New York Lawyers for the Public Interest, where she is chair of the board, and the Advisory Committees for Legal Outreach and the Vance Center for International Justice, where she is a co-chair.
Among other awards, McGowen has been recognized as a 2019 Rainmaker by the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) and is a recipient of the National Bar Association’s Outstanding Woman at a Majority Firm, NYC Bar Association’s Diversity Champion Award and Legal Outreach’s Pipeline to Diversity Champion Award.
