American Express has announced the promotion of Glenda McNeal to Chief Partner Officer, making her the first person to hold this newly created position. In this role McNeal will expand her management of the company’s most strategic partnerships across travel, retail, tech and media by adding oversight of global sponsorships.
The creation of the Chief Partner Officer role aligns with American Express’ expansion of its Strategic Partnership portfolio with a focus on strategic planning, relationship management and partner innovation to drive value for Card Members.
“Glenda has an exceptionally strong track record of spearheading critical partner agreements and navigating the complexity of large, global relationships to benefit both the company and our partners and she will continue to do so in this expanded role,” said Stephen J. Squeri, Chairman and CEO of American Express.

In her 35 years with American Express, McNeal has demonstrated a unique ability to rally the enterprise around developing creative, win-win solutions with many of the world’s best brands. She has held leadership roles across the company’s core card-issuing and merchant businesses, including positions in sales and client management, business development, product strategy, and her most recent role as President of Strategic Partnerships where she spearheaded critical partner agreements and managed global relationships. McNeal is a member of the American Express Executive Committee, and she has been named an Officer of the company.
McNeal is a graduate of Dillard University and The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
