Lloyd Yates is President and Chief Executive Officer of NiSource, Inc., one of the largest, fully regulated utility companies in the United States.
In this role, Yates oversees NiSource’s six-state service area where the company provides energy for nearly four million natural gas and electric customers through the dedicated efforts of 7,500 employees. Yates is a member of NiSource’s Board of Directors.
Yates most recently he served as Executive Vice President, Customer and Delivery Operations, and President, Carolinas Region, for Duke Energy Corporation. In that role, he was responsible for aligning customer-focused products and services to deliver a personalized end-to-end experience, as well as for profit and loss, strategic direction and financial performance of regulated utilities in North Carolina and South Carolina.
Yates serves on the board for Marsh and McLennan, a leading insurance broker and risk advisor with offices in more than 130 countries.
Yates has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. He attended the Advanced Management Program at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School and the Executive Management Program at Harvard Business School.
