Margot James Copeland is Executive Vice President and Director of Philanthropy and Civic Engagement at KeyBank, one of the nation’s largest banks. In this role, she serves as Chair and Chief Executive Officer of the KeyBank Foundation, guiding the company’s strategic philanthropic investments, in education, neighborhood prosperity, workforce development and community service.
Under Copeland’s leadership, KeyBank Foundation was named to “The Civic 50” four consecutive times from 2013 to 2017, as one of America’s 50 most community-minded companies, by Points of Light Foundation. In 2014 and 2017, the company ranked #1 among the financial services sector.
Copeland serves as Trustee of Kent State University and Chair of the Academic Excellence and Student Success Committee. She is Trustee and Vice Chair of Government Affairs and Community Engagement for the Cleveland Clinic. She also serves as Trustee of Say Yes to Education NY, NY, the Thomas White Foundation and the Kenneth Scott Foundation.
Copeland is the 15th National President of The Links, Incorporated. Among her many distinguished awards and honors are Alumni of the Year, Hampton University and Esteemed African-American Alumni, The Ohio State University.
Copeland holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Hampton University and a Master of Arts in Educational Development from the College of Education at The Ohio State University.
