Comic book movie fans were in for a treat at the recent Comic-Con, as they were privileged the opportunity to witness the first sneak peek of Jamie Foxx’s villainous role in the upcoming Marvel epic The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Foxx portrays Electro, an outwardly mild mannered man who is transformed into a formidable adversary for Spidey, who is played by Andrew Garfield, after being struck by lightening.
The 39 second clip begins with tracking shots panning through a high-tech lab as an innate and warped, robotic voice affirms, “I can feel it in the walls … I can feel it in my veins … no matter what you do, Doc, you can’t tame it …”
Foxx then appears hooked up to various gizmos engulfed in an abundance of sparks with his head shaved and skin looking a strange pink-and-blue pigment. He then stares into the camera with perplexed, sinister eyes, and finally the title envelopes the screen reading: “Electro Arrives, July 19, Hall H, 4:00 p.m.”
“You want to know how powerful I am?” Foxx’s character says ominously in the clip. “Well, I want to know too.”
The highly awaited The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens in theaters April 17, 2014.
