Savoy Mourns the Loss of Bernard J. Tyson, Chairman and CEO, Kaiser Permanente

Savoy Magazine remembers the life of Bernard J. Tyson, Chairman and CEO of Kaiser Permanente for his innovative leadership in the healthcare industry.

Savoy magazine recognizes the loss of a tremendous business leader with the passing of Bernard J. Tyson, Chairman and CEO of Kaiser Permanente (Kaiser) on November 10, 2019. Tyson, who served as chairman of Kaiser since 2014, was 60 years old.

“Bernard was a dear friend, a mentor, a great leader, and a noble man with the biggest heart. He had a special gift to connect with people through humor and compassion. I will truly miss him,” said LP Green, II, CEO & Publisher of Savoy.

Tyson’s meteoric rise at Kaiser spanned over 30 years to become head of the organization. He was a beloved and savvy business leader that Savoy covered extensively during his career.

“An outstanding leader, visionary and champion for high-quality, affordable health care for all Americans, Bernard was a tireless advocate for Kaiser Permanente, our members and the communities we serve,” a Kaiser press release shared. “Most importantly, Bernard was a devoted husband, father and friend. We all will miss his tremendous presence in our lives.”
