Provost Academy Ohio Hosts Family Festival Highlighting Online Learning, August 23rd

NBA star and former Ohio State University basketball standout Jared Sullinger is partnering with Provost Academy Ohio to promote online learning during an inaugural family festival on August 23, at the Eldon & Elsie Ward Family YMCA at 130 Woodland Ave in Columbus. The family-friendly event begins at 3 p.m. and concludes at 7 p.m. Provost Academy, Ohio’s newest virtual school, offers students in grades 6 through 12 with a tuition-free online education option. This free community event will feature complimentary food, interactive games and an exclusive meet-and-greet session with Sullinger for attendees.

“Provost Academy Ohio offers a unique educational environment comprised of certified teachers, caring staff and enriching academic classes. We want to invite families to join us at this event to find out more about our program and our unique offerings” said Executive Director Naim Sanders, a longtime Ohio educator and administrator.

Sullinger, who was drafted in the 1st round of the 2012 NBA draft by the Boston Celtics, played two seasons with the Ohio State Buckeyes and is a native of Columbus, Ohio. Sullinger is currently completing his college degree online.

“I am excited to partner with Provost Academy Ohio and to discuss the benefits of online education,” said Sullinger. “I am currently completing my college degree online, which allows me the flexibility to remain competitive on the court and in the classroom. Learning online lets me work at my own pace from my home or anywhere that I travel with my team.”

Sanders points out that there are additional benefits to learning online. “This virtual learning environment reduces various social factors that can stifle a student’s academic success in the classroom. There are simply less social distractions and more time for students to focus on their coursework,” said Sanders.

In contrast to other online learning programs, Provost Academy Ohio offers a robust, state-of-the-art curriculum with a strong base in math, science and technology, designed to be engaging, fun and targeted to multiple learning styles.  All courses can be adapted to fit a student’s individual needs with academic offerings customized for the individual student. Parents and students can easily monitor learning progress, assignments, and grades at a glance on their own personal home page.

Sanders as well as additional educators and administrators will be on hand to discuss Provost’s innovative academic structure and provide potential students and their families with information about success in a state-authorized virtual middle and high school.

“Our goal is to meet each student’s academic needs by offering a flexible education alternative here in Ohio” added Sanders. “All of our enrolled students work in the convenient, safe environment of their own home, using the Internet to connect to the classroom.”

Students in grades 6 through 12 can enroll in Provost Academy Ohio online at www.oh.provostacademy.com or by phone at 888-262-1052.
