Flowers Foods Elects Terry Thomas to its Board of Directors

Flowers Foods, Inc. has elected Terry Thomas to serve on the company’s board of directors, effective immediately. The company, whose brands include Nature’s Own, Dave’s Killer Bread, Wonder, and Tastykake, is one of the largest producers of packaged bakery foods in the US.

Mr. Thomas is the Executive Vice President & Chief Customer Officer for Unilever US, a global food, personal care, and household products company. He is responsible for $10 billion in revenues and leading the Customer Development, Ecommerce, Shopper Marketing, Shopper Insights, Category Management and Net Revenue Management functions. Prior to his current role, Thomas served as Vice President of Customer Development for US Grocery Channel, DSD, Natural Channel for Unilever US. Prior to joining Unilever, he worked for PepsiCo, Inc. for 13 years, serving as Vice President and General Manager of various business channels, including small format, global convenience, gas, drug, dollar, and super regional grocery. Mr. Thomas also held management positions at the Coca-Cola Company, Clorox Company, and Procter & Gamble Company.

Mr. Thomas’ knowledge and global experience extends across brand building, retail and customer insights. “[His] fresh perspectives will be invaluable as we execute our strategies to optimize our portfolio, unleash the full potential of our brands and drive innovation and profitability” commented Ryals McMullian, Flowers Foods’ president and chief executive officer.

Mr. Thomas is a member of the Unilever Diversity & Inclusion Board, where he plays a major part in furthering the Unilever U.S. inclusion and equality agenda.

Mr. Thomas’ board experience includes Co-Chair US Board of Enactus, Food Marketing Institute – ICC, Executive Leadership Council, National Association of Convenience Stores, National Association of Chain Drug Stores – Retail Advisory Board, Winona Capital Advisory, Aidmatrix, Northwestern University – Wienberg College of Arts & Science Board of Visitors.
