W. David Hubbard is Vice President & Deputy General Counsel for Verizon Communications. He is located in Basking Ridge, New Jersey and leads Verizon’s Marketing, Intellectual Property, and Digital Media Law and Policy team. He and his team provide legal support for marketing, advertising, intellectual property, external communications, regulatory compliance and corporate responsibility for Verizon’s entire portfolio of businesses.
Hubbard also serves as the General Counsel for the Verizon Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Verizon, dedicated to solving critical social issues in the areas of education, healthcare and energy management, particularly in underserved communities.
Hubbard serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Council of Better Business Bureaus. He also serves on the boards of Brightpoint Health; and Employment Horizons.
Prior to joining Verizon, Mr. Hubbard was an associate with Kelley Drye & Warren LLP (formerly Collier Shannon Scott, LLP) in Washington, DC. He earned his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center and his B.A., cum laude, from the University of Maryland at College Park, where he was Phi Beta Kappa and a Benjamin Banneker Scholar.
