Susan Johnson is the Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer at The Hartford, responsible for leading enterprise-wide D&I initiatives and aligning them with business strategies.
Susan partners with leaders to create an inclusive work environment, ensuring that The Hartford’s workforce reflects their stakeholder base; supports the acquisition, development and retention of talent; and focuses the company on business priorities related to diversity.
Susan has HR and Talent/Diversity leadership experience at several Fortune 500 companies and has worked on political campaigns and on policy and management issues in the public sector.
Susan is the Board Chair for the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center in Hartford and is Board Secretary for the National African American Insurance Association.
She has received public recognition for her professional accomplishments and community service.
Susan received her BA degree from Spelman College and a Master’s in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University.
