Peter M. Ellis is the National Chair of Reed Smith’s Complex Litigation Group as well as a member of the Global Executive Committee, the Firm’s governing board, where he chairs the Clients & Markets Committee (Strategy).

 

Ellis maintains a diverse practice focused on complex business disputes and corporate transactions. In addition, he handles complex internal investigations and represents private equity funds, hedge funds, family offices and financiers (and other portfolio companies) in various types of domestic and cross-border matters. He also counsels senior executives and boards regarding governance and risk.

 

In 2017, Ellis led a team that was recognized by the Association of Corporate Counsel with the ACC Value Challenge Championship Award, and he was recognized by Chicago United as a 2017 Business Leader of Color.

 

Ellis serves on the Boards of Rush University Medical Center, The Harris Theatre (Vice-Chair) and The Chicago Botanic Garden (Vice-Chair). He is also co-founder of Chicago Black Partners Alliance, a group of more than 100 African-American partners at major Chicago law fi rms committed to leveraging relationships and expertise to benefit its member-partners. He also is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago.
