James E. Brooks is Executive Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer for Huntington National Bank, a subsidiary of Huntington Bancshares Inc., a $109 billion asset regional bank holding company.
In this role, Brooks is responsible for leading the internal processes for promoting and ensuring Huntington’s compliance with laws, regulations and company policies, including chairing its enterprise- wide Compliance Committee which oversees compliance risk management of Huntington’s major business lines and over 16,000 colleagues.
He has more than 25 years of banking industry experience leading firms in the areas of risk, compliance and audit. Prior to Huntington, he held leadership positions in major financial institutions such as Chemical Bank, JP Morgan Chase and Bank One. His background also includes, holding positions such as Controller, Chief Audit/Risk Executive and most recently, Chief Financial Officer for Advantage Bank.
Brooks has held several community roles through his career, including, past chairman of the Alpha Rho Lambda Education Foundation, board member of WrightChoices, Inc. and a member of the Board of Trustees for BalletMet Columbus. He is the current chair of the American Bankers Association Compliance Administrative Committee.
Brooks earned his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Franklin University.
