Heidi Constantine Nelson is Assistant General Counsel in the Global Corporate Services Unit of MetLife Legal Affairs. She manages a team responsible for MetLife’s global trademark portfolio, domain names, internet policing, and other brand related issues. She provides ongoing support throughout the MetLife enterprise for a variety of IP and technology issues, including social media, advertising, IP related M&A matters, IP licensing, and sponsorships.

 

Heidi has taken significant leadership roles in many high-profile matters, including the MetLife Stadium Sponsorship, MetLife’s “Peanuts” licensing relationship, and IP issues related to the spin-off of MetLife’s retail division into Brighthouse Financial. She is a co-founder of G.I.V.E.S. (MetLife’s Pro Bono Program) and mentors several MetLife associates.

 

In addition to her daily MetLife responsibilities, Heidi publishes an IP blog (www.trademarklark.com). She is also active in and has presented on IP and technology issues at various International Trademark Association and Corporate Counsel Women of Color events.

 

Prior to joining MetLife, Heidi was an associate at LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae, LLP. Heidi received her JD from Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, California, and has an undergraduate degree from the University of Louisiana (Lafayette).
