Deborah Grimes is the Chief Diversity Officer for UAB Health System. After ten years as a nurse, Deborah transitioned to UAB Risk Management as a Healthcare Attorney for 9 years. In 2004, she returned to Hospital Administration as the Director of Joint Commission/Quality Resources. She was promoted to VP of Quality/ Regulatory Affairs in 2006 and, in 2007, assumed the Interim Compliance Officer position. In 2009, she became the Chief Compliance Officer for UAB Hospital. During this tenure, she received a certification as a Healthcare Quality Professional, Certified Healthcare Compliance, and completed leadership fellowship training with Momentum Inc.

 

Deborah also serves as a Board member of the Alabama Kidney Foundation and is past President for Momentum Inc., Founder of Breast Cancer Support Group “The Courage Network” to assist breast cancer survivors to thrive while surviving treatment. She is a member several professional groups, such as Black Nurses Association, Society of Human Resource, Birmingham Society of Human Resources, Healthcare Compliance Association and National Association Society of Healthcare Executives.

 

Deborah received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UAB as well as a Master in Science in quality & safety and graduated from the Birmingham School of Law with a Juris Doctor Degree.
