Damon Jones is the Senior Vice President & General Counsel of Baseball & Business Operations for the Washington Nationals Baseball Club, where he provides strategic legal, business, and baseball advice to the team and its related stadium, broadcasting, and non-profit affiliates. During his 11-year tenure, he has played a critical role in helping the Nationals grow from a startup relocation franchise to one that competes for championships on the field and has a robust, fan friendly business off the field.
Jones is committed to helping children through youth sports. He is a Board Member of the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy, which uses the sports of baseball and softball as vehicles to foster positive character development, academic achievement, and improved health among youth from underserved communities in Washington, D.C.
Previously at Williams & Connolly, Jones’ practice included transactional and general business representation of high-profile, high-character, business-savvy MLB, NBA and WNBA players, as well as complex civil and criminal litigation.
Jones received a J.D. from Harvard Law School and B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is a frequent speaker and lecturer on the sports business.
