Calvin G. Butler Jr. is the Senior Executive Vice President of Exelon and Chief Executive Officer of Exelon Utilities. Butler oversees Exelon’s six electric and natural gas companies in the Northeast and Midwest. Together, they form the nation’s largest utility company by customer count, serving approximately 10 million customers. Previously, Butler served as CEO of Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE), an Exelon company, and in other senior leadership positions at Exelon.

Butler is board chair of the Gridwise Alliance, an electric grid modernization advocacy organization and on the Board of Directors for RLI Corp. He also serves on the board of his alma mater, Bradley University, where he currently chairs the Board of Trustees. Butler also serves on the Library of Congress’ James Madison Council.

Additionally, Butler serves on the boards of several prominent Baltimore-based organizations including the Baltimore Community Foundation, University of Maryland School of Medicine’s Board of Visitors, the Greater Baltimore Committee and the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation.

Butler earned a Bachelor’s degree from Bradley University in Peoria, IL, and a Juris Doctor degree from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, MO. He received an honorary doctorate of Humane Letters from Morgan State University in 2014.
