Andrea Clark Smith is the Associate Chief Legal Officer and Vice President of Physician and Human Resources services for UPMC, a $20 billion, 87,000-employee, health enterprise headquartered in Pittsburgh, and one of the nation’s leading nonprofit health systems. Clark Smith leads a team of immigration, employment, labor, and health law specialists.
Prior to joining UPMC in 2013, Clark Smith was Managing Director and Employment Law Counselor at American Airlines, where she focused on employment issues in the U.S., Caribbean, Central and South America, and Europe.
In addition to her legal practice, Clark Smith has led significant diversity and inclusion efforts including as Manager of American Airlines’ Minority Counsel Program, Executive Legal Department Sponsor for UPMC’s Employee Experience team, and Manager of UPMC’s Minority Counsel Program.
With a strong commitment to her hometown of Pittsburgh, Clark Smith serves on Boards of the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh, Sarah Heinz House (a Boys and Girls Clubs of America affiliate), and Association of Corporate Counsel, Western Pennsylvania.
Clark Smith holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from Spelman College and a Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law.
