Alonzo Weems holds the position of Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Eli Lilly and Company. In this role, Alonzo oversees Lilly’s corporate legal functions – litigation, HR, commercial transactions, regulatory and privacy – and serves as General Counsel for the Company’s global Biomedicines Business Unit.
Most recently, Alonzo served as General Counsel for the global Diabetes Business Unit, which included serving as General Counsel for Lilly USA and overseeing legal teams in Japan, China and Canada.
Since joining Lilly in 1997, Alonzo has held several positions within the Company, including General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Eli Lilly Canada and Director of Global Workforce Diversity.
Alonzo currently serves on the boards of the International School of Indiana, Early Learning Indiana and is a member of Central Indiana’s HQ2 Steering Committee overseeing the efforts to encourage Amazon to establish its second headquarters in the Indianapolis region.
Alonzo received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University Maurer School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Wabash College.
