Bola Oyesanya, Managing Director, Law Firm Group, Citi: Leading with Inclusivity

Citi Managing Director Bola Oyesanya has spent the last twenty-one years in the private banking industry. She’s held numerous roles at Citi, and through it all, Bola has remained passionate about creating a diverse work environment.

Bola Oyesanya attended university and law school in Nigeria. In 1990, she was named the Best Graduating Law Student in Ogun State University and subsequently attended Nigeria Law School in Lagos. Though Bola was trained as an attorney, she pivoted shortly after graduation and began her career as a banking officer at Citi Trust Merchant Bank Limited in Lagos.

Bola immediately fell in love with the banking industry. From the beginning of her career at Citi, Bola was committed to learning, developing relationships and seeking opportunities for growth. She has held numerous positions at Citi, including Relationship Officer, Team Lead and Private Banker in Citi’s prestigious Law Firm Group. Citi’s Law Firm Group is a dedicated and trusted partner serving the legal industry. The Law Firm Group has been working with the legal profession since 1971, with over 90% of its client business generated from working with the AM LAW 100 firms. Today, it serves over 700 law firms and 50,000 lawyers across the U.S. and U.K. Citi’s Law Firm Group’s service is responsive by design and supports its clients’ evolving financial needs throughout every stage of their careers.

Today, Bola is a Managing Director, Global Market Manager, NY Metro within the Law Firm Group. In this role, she manages several teams of talented Private Bankers and associates, with a focus on growing revenue and increasing wallet share with clients. Bola acts as a trusted partner to individuals, families and institutions. Her objective is to bring the “best of Citi” to her clients – including a full range of asset, liability and wealth management services. Together with her team, Bola works with her clients to structure and monitor investment portfolios and wealth plans, as well as to provide the suitable liquidity strategy, financing vehicle and/or risk management strategy. She also works with institutional clients on investments, escrow agency, custody, trust and estate and other financial services.

Bola is equally passionate about diversity, equity and inclusion. She recently served as the Chairperson for Citi’s Private Bank Diversity Operating Committee and currently sits on the firm’s Black Heritage Affinity Steering Committee. In addition, Bola is a member of Black Leaders for Tomorrow Advisory Council, and Co-Lead for Global Black Women at Citi. She is a strong proponent of mentorship in the workplace and serves as a mentor for many colleagues at various stages in their careers.
