Idris Elba is best known for his film and television roles, however the British actor has also been very active in the hip-hop and dance music world on the mic and behind the decks as a DJ for over a decade. Elba released his debut EP ‘Big Man’ in 2006.

Elba is prepping some upcoming collaborations under his belt, working with artists Pharoahe Monch, Mumford & Sons and Mr. Hudson.

The first artist on the 7Wallace roster is French-Cameroonian producer named James BKS. James has produced for top Hip-Hop artists such as Talib Kweli and Diddy.
According to Billboard, Elba states: “James is a rare find. His hip-hop sensibilities transfer to the other music he makes, he’s a nice person to work with and is gonna be a strong artist for the future. It’s a huge move for 7Wallace, a small indie label.”

James is a French artist from Cameroon. He now livess in Paris and owns the creative house Grown Kid, which has composed music for Yves Saint-Laurent, Prada and Giorgio Armani commercials and scored French films including La Taularde and Le Gang Des Antillais. James developed a connection with his Cameroonian heritage after a chance meeting with his biological father, legendary Afro-jazz saxophonist Manu Dibango, which led to a collaboration and a new love for African music.

James BKS’ debut single ‘Kwlele’ was released on July 13th.
